The beautiful Yorkshire coast has a reputation all of its own, but tread a little way inland, and you will discover the chalkland Wolds which border the Vale of Pickering. Within this setting lies parkland and woodland which Wild Roe Deer love
All our game comes from within a ten mile radius of the shop, and is from our own farms or mainly from Wykeham Estate, the home of Lord and Lady Downe.
Now common throughout Yorkshire, the wild roe deer has only a limited closed season, so that, although we cannot 'shoot to order', local venison is available the year round. Trained and licenced stalkers ring when ever they have fresh venison, and the carcasses are delivered from the field or their game larder.
Rabbits too, are making a culinary comeback, with the help of a few TV Chefs, and these, as you would expect, are plentiful on our own and adjacent farms.
Partridge is in season between October and December, and pheasant from October until March.
